To see if Any Path Physical Therapy can help you with your new or longstanding neurological condition, please call to make an evaluation appointment or discovery visit. Most neurological conditions it is very important to work alongside your medical team and coordinate your care to get the best outcomes. Typically, a Neurologist or PCP will be the head of the team which may include allied health professionals such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, social workers, and more.
Some neurological conditions such as Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Brain Cancer, and Stroke typically require inpatient rehabilitation, short term or long-term care centers and home health before you come to outpatient physical therapy. Once you’re at a point of community ambulation your typically ready for outpatient physical therapy.
During your physical therapy evaluation your Doctor of Physical Therapy will do a comprehensive review of your medical records sent to us, gather information from you and potentially your caregivers. The evaluation typically includes checking your strength, range of motion, reflexes, coordination, muscle tone, attention, cognition, sensation, balance as well as functional movements such as bed mobility, transfers between positions such as getting out of bed, sitting, standing, and how your balance and coordination and level of independence is with those. Then we will assess your gait or how you move around with and without assistive devices. After evaluation we will develop a plan of care and coordinate with your treatment team.

Physical Therapy treatments for neurological conditions varies depending on the exact condition but in general you might get the following interventions:
- Therapeutic Activities to improve your functional tasks such as independence with bed mobility, transfers to different positions or surfaces.
- Neuromuscular Re-Education to improve your motor control, coordination, static and dynamic balance in sitting, standing, and moving with and without assistive devices.
- Gait Training to improve your ability to walk with or without the use of assistive devices such as walkers, canes, and crutches from flat ground to stairs.
